WOW! I can't beleive I let time lapse this long before updating this scrapbook. I mainly have been using this webpage as a place to post scrapbooks of pictures of the kiddos and updates on their status as a whole. I post 3-4 times per week of our daily adventures and antics on our blog, www.flowersfamilyfun.blogspot.com. That website allows more than this one, but doesn't have the capability to store bulk pictures, which is what I love about AboutMyBaby. Plus, I've been with this site since before Aiden was born and theirs too much history here to shut it down. Ok, on to the updates!
Aiden-Aiden started 3K at Park Place Christian Academy in August and LOVES it! He loves his teacher and his classmates and really loves the afterschool program because he gets to play all afternoon. We love it because he is learning new things daily, especially about the Lord, which is just amazing to see at his age. We are blessed! On the flip side, Aiden is also growing up so fast and picking up on MANY things I wish he would not hear. I've heart the following words lately come out of his mouth: stupid, idiot, shut-up, crap, and we've finally got him to stop saying, 'whatever' and now he says, 'oh brother' in the same exact conotation. While I still don't like the implication behind it, it cerainly sounds better than my 3 y/o saying 'whatever.' I'm trying to choose my battles wisely. Aiden is also SO incredibly sweet to his sisters. He loves them so much and takes such good care of them given the chance. He LOVES helping others and gets frustrated when you don't let him help. He's a beautiful kid and he has a beautiful, sensitive spirit. He gets embarrassed easily but bounces back quickly most of the time. He's just so much like I was as a kid. He LOVES super heros, from Batman to Superman, to Spiderman and Hulk, not to mention Hawkman, Green Lantern, The Flash, The Atom and Wonder Woman. The kid is just amazed. He also recently discovered "Star Woahs" or Star Wars and has been asking questions about what it is. We might let him watch one of the first Star Wars soon after I screen it again to see if it's ok. The other morning I sat down to help Aiden get dressed and he stopped me and said he could do it himself. I know he can do it himself, but he usually lets me help him if I offer. I made a sad face and said, "Well I know you're a big boy and can get dressed on your own, but I thought you might still want your momma's help. You don't need me anymore?" He just smiled and said, "Momma, I still love you, but I can do this on my own now. But I love it when you help me because you're such a good helper." Then he hugged me. Isn't it great when you can tell your kids are learning life lessons from the things you say OVER AND OVER. Can't tell you how many times I've said, "you are such a good helper," to Aiden and the girls. I hugged Aiden and told him how proud I was of him for being such a big boy and for the way he loves his momma and the rest of his family. And I am so very proud of him.
My girls are getting SO BIG! Acutally Cam is about 3 lbs bigger than Carsen and an inch taller. Carsen is officially, 'peanut' to all us around our house. She's just so petite. They are about a half size different in shoes, both with wide feet like their Bubba, but Carsen has a super high instep like her Tashy and her Nonna. They can mostly wear the same size in clothes, but today Camden's little shirt was riding up and Carsen's was a little big...not sure what we'll do now because most of their winter stuff is all the same size. I guess we'll be returning some things! Camden and Carsen are still in school at Kids Stop and love it there. They moved up to the 2 year old class in May and have been doing well. They are learning all their colors and numbers and can count to 10 and some in the teens. They also, thanks to Kai-Lan and Dora, speak a little Spanish and Mandarin in their daily conversation. Carsen especially will say, "Nihow" before she says "hey," to a stranger. I let her because I think it's funny and quite impressive to hear. She and Cam both say "ayuda me" for help me and use other words that I don't know but they respond to. They talk to each other with this. Now this might be that they're developing their 'twin language,' but I don't know for sure. Time will tell. Camden still speaks more and plainer than Carsen, but do trust that they can both hold their own. They can say whatever they want to say. The girls aren't doing so well with potty training. They're just not interested at all. I wish they were because I'd like this new house to be a diaper free zone, but I will settle for pullups if I have to. I'm excited about the girls and Aiden having separate rooms soon because they are starting to like different things and need their own space. The girls are becoming girly, though Carsen does like to play super heros with Aiden a lot. Camden is SUCH a little Momma! She is obsessed with babies and bottles and pacifiers and strollers...it's SO cute! They both love crowns and dressing up in their fancy shoes that Mamaw/SueSue gave them. They also love to get their nails painted and to put on lipstick (chapstick). Recently I moved their play kitchen into their little pop-up playhut and they now call it their house. Their big Christmas present will be a Rose Petal Cottage so they will have their own little house. I can't wait! Camden is so sweet about saying, "Oh, Momma, I love it!" when she likes something so I can't wait to hear her response to the Rose Petal Cottage. Carsen always runs and hugs me and says "THANK YOU, MOMMY! THANK YOU!!" So I'm sure I'll get lots of those, too! My children are so polite and I am so blessed by their manners. Lately, I've been trying to let them work out their own problems amongst themselves some so they will have some kind of problem solving skills. This goes pretty good, actually. Often I walk into a room and see someone getting an,"I'm sorry," hug. It's so sweet to see. I'm so proud of my babies! They are becoming little women and it's just amazing to watch.
SO now onto house news. Today they will supposedly be finished with the trim work. That means all our cabinets, closets, and woodworking is complete. We are so excited about this! I think that the painting, staining of doors and cabinets and countertops are all next, but I'm honestly not sure. It's been fun and not nearly as stressful as I pictured. Jonathan has been a great builder and Anthony has stayed on top of things to make sure we don't miss anything that we want done. I will post updated pictures on the blog tonight so you can see.
Continue to pray for us. We're almost HOME! I can see it on the horizon. Also please pray that Gustav stays away. I know I'm been very nervous and anxious about this storn because of Katrina so I know that our friends on the Coast are probably feeling some PTSD about this one. Please pray for all those who were affected by Katrina and their mental health as they prepare for Gustav. They will need it, I assure you.
Welcome to the World, Thomas Wyatt King, new son to Heather and Jereme King and baby brother to Stella Rose King, who is 18 months old. Wyatt was born on 8/17/08 weighing in at 7lbs 9 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. He looks JUST LIKE his daddy.
Also, be in prayer for us as we take our children to visit The Holley's in Nashville over the holidays. Jennifer is literally about to pop with Baby Colbie Marie so we are keeping our fingers crossed that Colbie will make an arrival while we are there. Maybe all that high pressure from the storm will help her out :)
Love to all...
Mandye
