Twins and a Tot

June 2007

Last night we went to watch The Bounty Hunters (Anthony's softball team) play at Shiloh Park. Alot of our friends are on the team, including Jacob Mullins. Jacob has been a best friend of Anthony's since they were kids. Jacob is married to Amanda Smith who has been one of my best friends since first grade. We still talk at least once a week! Our sons are one year exactly apart in age. You may remember that I zoomed home to Jackson on the night of Aiden's first b'day just in time to see little Connor in the hospital when he was born. Now Connor is 1 1/2 and Aiden is 2 1/2. Last night, for the first time, Aiden and Connor played together. They threw the ball back and forth while their dads played softball and their moms chatted. It was a picture I'll forever have in my mind: My best friend, Anthony's best friend and our boys now becoming best friends...It doesn't get any better than this. Seeing them play together and knowing the history behind our years of friendship makes me so happy! It's things like this that solidify the reason that we came home. We wanted our kids to grow up with a sense of home and a sense of family and a history of friendships. You can't buy that. I'm so blessed to be home with my friends and family. Amanda and Jacob, here's to many more ballgames and watching our boys grow up together! I love you both!

Sorry it's been so long since I updated the site. I did add some pictures, but that's been a few weeks ago. We've been really busy! The girls are completely mobile, and by mobile I mean WALKING! Carsen has been walking for about a month and Camden has been walking for about a week. They are so cute! They still don't have as much hair as Aiden did at their age, but it's growing. We are loving our new preschool! Kids Stop Learning Center and Preschool is EXCELLENT! We love our teachers and our administrators. Ms. Cindy (Ant's mom) used to work with one of the administrators (Ms. Renee) and we are just loving getting to know everyone. Aiden has adjusted so well. One day I was running late so I got to see them do their 8:00 pledge of allegiance and song. It was SO cute! I love that he's learning so much there. They have toy day on Friday and book day on Thursday, which he just loves. It's neat. And the girls' class is really small and their teacher is just so wonderful. I'm very pleased, if you can't tell.

The girls are so funny now. It's like they switched personalities. Camden has become completely needy. If I am in her view, she is yelling for me. You know, Aiden didn't say 'Mama' until he was like literally 18 months old. You may remember me saying that he would look straight at me, laugh, and say Dada instead of Mama. I thought it would be GREAT if the girls said Mama first. Now I think it would be great it Camden would just say anything other than Mama sometimes!!! She's definitely going through some separation anxiety. She used to just play while Carsen cried for me. I think she watched Carsen and learned what to do. She can be crying, red faced, tears streaming down and I pick her up and she just laughs and smiles. She's a smart kid and I'm a pushover. :) Meanwhile, Carsen just plays with Aiden or by herself and is just as happy as a little lark. I've talked to some of my twin mommy friends and they say that this switching of personalities is pretty common. I guess I better get used to it. I just hope that they don't both decide to play the needy twin at the same time! Ah!

The other day I got a note from school that my little pirana (AKA: Carsen) had bitten another kid. In her defense, the kid stuck his finger in her mouth, but still...she bit another kid. I don't foresee this as a patern because she doesn't normally bite, but it was kind of weird having a child written up for something. I hope I don't have to deal with that much in life. I've had really good kids so far!

SO Aiden is sporadically trying out the potty. I never know when he's going to be ok with trying it, or when he's going to kick and scream about it. I just am at a crossroads with this child. He is SO smart. He can have complete conversations with me, but yet he can't tell me when he needs to pee. I don't get it. I know it's a different part of the brain, but come on! Example: The other day the teacher at church asked him if he needed to use the potty. Here's what he said: "No, Ms. Melody. I only use the potty at home not here at church" It was like he made the decision that he wasn't going potty at church. This morning he told he he used the potty at school, not at home! He's too smart. The other night at church he had two dolls in highchairs (don't tell his dad!!) and he was feeding them. He told my sister that he was feeding his sisters, Carsen and Camden. He's so smart. Anthony and I were picking out a movie to watch when the kids went to bed. I asked Anthony what he wanted to watch. Aiden piped in and said, "Hmmm...How about Happy Feet?" I had no clue he ever heard me. Note to self...they hear it ALL! He has also now started shushing me. I asked him who shushed him and he said, "Ms. Joyce." That's his teacher. I'm fine with her shushing him, I just don't like him shushing ME. Maybe I should tell him to say please shush? I don't know. It could be worse. It could be 'shut up!' I don't think I'll complain.

So the Mississippi Moms Connection is having our first Central Mississippi Meet and Greet and the Pearl Park on June 30th from 3-6. There will be food and entertainment provided. Come out and join us and bring your family and friends. If you haven't joined the site yet, it's www.Mississippi-Moms.com and it's awesome! We have over 135 members!!

This weekend is Pearl Day and Anthony's team "The Bounty Hunters" (DON'T ASK!) is playing in the softball tournament. It starts tonight so come out at 6:30 to Center City to see them play if you want. Normally you can catch the Bounty Hunters at Shiloh Park on Monday nights starting next week.

We close on the sale of our house next Friday!! Keep us in your prayers that all goes well. I have chosen a house plan that I'll try and post on here sometime soon. Still looking for land...pray for that, too!!

    Love,
    Mandye
